1.The effect of intracoronary reinfusion of bone marrow-derived mononuclear cells (BM-MNC) on all-cause mortality in acute myocardial infarction (BAMI)
The objective is to advance this research in the BAMI project and will develop a standardised method of bone marrow cell collection, develop a standardised method of optimising reparative potential of bone marrow derived cells, standardise bone marrow preparation procedure so that it can be universally applied, standardize method of bone marrow cell delivery post AMI and conduct the first large scale all course mortality clinical trial to test if the product and delivery method mentioned above can lead to a 25% reduction in mortality.
2. Systems Biology towards Novel Chronic Kidney Disease Diagnosis and Treatment (SysKid)
SysKid, a large-scale integrating European research project, aims at deepening our understanding of chronic kidney disease. The project paves the way for progress in prevention, new diagnostic strategies and treatment options for declining kidney function, which affects millions of patients suffering from diabetes and hypertension.
In order to accomplish SysKid’s aims the following subordinate objectives are defined:
Objective 1:Integrate existing, and extend clinically well-defined sample cohorts of patients with chronic kidney disease.
Objective 2:Establish and unify a broad ‘omics’ repository characterizing CKD.
Objective 3:Decipher processes, molecular pathways and associated CKD biomarkers utilizing a Systems Biology approach.
Objective 4:Use cell cultures and animal models to deepen our understanding of identified processes associated with early CKD.
Objective 5:Delineate novel therapeutic strategies and pre-clinical evaluation for prevention and slowing of progression of chronic renal disease.
Objective 6:Clinical validation of identified biomarkers for generating early stage diagnosis and prognosis IVD kits.
Objective 7:Delineate a novel risk score for the development of chronic kidney disease.
Objective 8:Deepen our understanding of the epidemiological aspects of early CKD with particular focus on consequences for healthcare policies.
3. The ERA-NET PrioMedChild (Priority Medicines for Children)
The ERA-NET PrioMedChild (Priority Medicines for Children) is a network of eleven research funding organisations from different EU-member states working on the development of research around medicines for children.
PRIOMEDCHILD aims to contribute to the building of the European Research Area by:
Networking national programmes and programme managers in order to exchange expertise on:
- medicines for children research
- content, organisation/structure and outcomes of national medicines for children research programmes
Setting the European research agenda for medicines for children by
- fostering trans-national research cooperation
- establishing the content and context dependency of best practises and barriers for medicines for children research
Working towards a joint/common European research programme by
- fostering coordinated research priorities and programming in cooperation with industries, patient organisations and other stakeholders
- the preparation of a trans-national research call on medicines for children
4. Innovative methods of stem cells application in medicine (VSEL)
The direct goal of the project is to develop innovative methods for the use of stem cells in medicine and thus achieve significant progress in the practical application of this promising therapeutic strategy, which is the cell therapy. This effect will be achieved by:
1) the development of innovative methods of isolation, characterization, propagation and increase the regenerative potential of VSEL stem cells and other stem cells with bone marrow origin;
2) the use of modern equipment for world-class research;
3) the development of national and international co-operation and links of research units with industry;
4) training of highly qualified researchers.
5. Polymeric carriers for controlled heat generation and separation of sheets of the skin and epithelial cells (POLYCELL)
The project is developed by the applicant to adjust the substrate used for the cultivation of skin cells and epithelial cells, for the development of production technology and application in the treatment of extensive burns and chronic wounds.
